What Cl@ve is

Plataforma ONE says that the Cl@ve digital certificate allows you to identify yourself before the Administration without having to remember different passwords to access different services. It adds that to identify yourself with Cl@ve, it is necessary to register in the system beforehand. It also says that cl@ve PIN is aimed at sporadic accesses, with a password of very limited validity over time. The same page says that cl@ve Permanent is aimed at regular accesses and for use of cloud signature, with a password lasting over time. It adds that any Spanish or foreign citizen with a DNI or NIE can register for Cl@ve for free.

What you need

Registration steps

  1. Plataforma ONE lists four steps and says that the user accesses the Tax Agency website, selects All procedures, then Other services, and then the Cl@ve Registration section.

  2. It adds that three registration methods are shown: registering in Cl@ve by invitation letter or video call, registering with a certificate or electronic ID, and in-person registration.

  3. It also says that to activate the user in Cl@ve Permanente, the activation code included in the receipt after registering in Cl@ve is required.

  4. The same page says that if you do not keep the activation code, it can be regenerated immediately by accessing Regenerate Cl@ve Permanente activation code within the Cl@ve Registration procedures.

  5. It adds that timelines vary depending on the type of certificate requested, ranging from a few hours to several days, or even weeks if in-person identity verification is required.

You need a NIE first if you are not Spanish. See the NIE guide.
